3D animatic in week8

In this week, I finished the 3D animatic from shot 57- shot62. The animations in shot60-shot61 are big challenges to me. Characters need to keep walking, some times with different speed in these shots. When their legs and feet are walking, I need to let their body perform another action in the same time. I’ve tried my best to do these two shots, wish get some suggestions about them.

After I finished the first round 2D animatic, I watch all of them and edit them again, adjust the timing.

Here’s the animatic part which I made in this week

facial expression (shot13-shot14)

This video is the blocking of facial expression in shot14. I made the emotion like, Dot feels a little bit surprise about the shinning rock, picked it cautiously, glanced at Halo to make sure if it’s a gift for her. Then, she smiled after she got the friendly mind from Halo. It can be a subtle happy emotion on Dot’s face.

Umbrella_rigging

It’s the umbrella which be held by Dot. Because in shot56, Halo created a shadow area with his fabric. Therefore, the umbrella is also made by that fabric. Dot can live in the shadow area which be created by the umbrella, She can also go wherever she wants, with the umbrella.

I searched some tutorial video about umbrella rigging, there are some complex frames inside the daily umbrella. However, These two characters are just two kids, if they can make complex structure, it doesn’t make sense, so I simplified the structure of the umbrella. Just let it can be opened or closed a little bit.

Glove_model

The glove is also made by that piece of fabric, When Halo wear the glove, he can hold Dot’s hands.

Glove_test

For let Halo wear the glove, I use Wrap ( in deform). However, if I use it directly, all of fingers will drag the gloves, I can’t let a single glove’s finger moves dependently, they will stick together. Therefore, the solution which I found is copy a new hand model, separate five fingers as five different models, let these new models warp the original hand. Then let each finger’s glove warp each new finger’s model. After all, These fingers can move dependently with their own gloves.

Grid

The average time which be spent in rendering Dot and her dark environment is much more than Halo and the bright environment. Until now, the Diffuse and Specular in Render setting are 4, There still have some noise in my dark environment. I plan to adjust the light and the assets of the environment in week9, after I redo the light, I will higher the sample of each light, try to lower the specular and diffuse, but clean the noise. I will test the render again in next week.
